I am a Full Professor of User Experience (UX) Research and Associate Dean at the School of Graduate & Post-doctoral Studies. My research and teaching are centred on the design and evaluation of user experience in interactive entertainment systems. I have authored over 50 peer-reviewed articles and often speak at both academic conferences and industry events.
My latest book, The Game Designer's Playbook: An Introduction to Game Interaction Design, was published in 2022 by Oxford University Press. I also co-edited Games User Research (2018), a comprehensive volume featuring insights from over 40 experts in UX research within the gaming industry.
My career is spanning both academia and industry, I have contributed to the pre- and post-release evaluation of more than 30 commercial games and other interactive products, including titles such as Crysis 2, PewDiePie: Legend of the Brofist, and A Fold Apart. I worked as the UX Research Director at Execution Labs in Montréal, Canada, from 2015 to 2017 and was a UX Researcher at Vertical Slice and Player Research in the UK from 2009 to 2013.
I am passionate about bridging the gap between academic research and industry practice and works closely with game companies to solve complex interaction design challenges, ensuring optimal user experiences in interactive entertainment.
